...Gotta Believe!

Martha Bozeman is running for Congress to give the voters of Alabama’s Seventh Congressional District the voice they deserve. A long-time advocate for the betterment of our community, Martha understands how tough it is for people to survive, especially in these uncertain economic times. She also understands how people fully immersed in these struggles can feel voiceless and powerless.

That is why Martha will go to Washington as an advocate for working families — people whose needs have been ignored for too long by too many of our state’s leaders. Martha puts people first, with sorely needed leadership in a district where nearly 14 percent of residents are unemployed; where

40 percent fail to graduate from high school; and where one-in-five do not have health insurance.

“I know from my own childhood the struggles working parents face in raising families,” Martha says. “I know from personal experience that children of working parents have to fight harder for their education. I know the emotional and financial impacts of caring for a terminally ill loved one, and of the dire need for affordable and accessible health care. Addressing these issues — meeting basic needs in meaningful ways — will contribute to the progress and prosperity of the Seventh District and all of Alabama.”

As the Representative of the Seventh District, Martha will work with integrity and passion — qualities that were instilled by her parents and grandparents, and that have enabled her to respond positively and productively to the challenges she has met in her career and life. When Martha talks about the issues that mean the most to her — creating jobs, improving education for all children, fighting to ensure that every American has full access to the best available health care — her beliefs are the product of personal experience and enduring life lessons.

“My core values come from my family,” declares Martha. “They gave me a strong faith in God and a sense of pride in myself, my community and my country. They stressed the importance of having respect and compassion for all people. ‘Love thy neighbor as thyself’ was a phrase I heard a lot growing up, and I saw members of my own family who were great examples of that.”
